NHR | Women in HPC Chapter
An organization to promote diversity, equality, inclusivity, and a supportive culture in NHR and throughout the HPC community in Germany
The Women in HPC Chapter (NHR | WHPC) was founded by female researchers of the NHR Alliance in 2024. We connect and support all women and underrepresented groups working in HPC in Germany at all career levels in science and industry by organizing various activities:
Active support, promotion of women and underrepresented groups at all career-levels. Providing networking opportunities, support, resources through mentorship, travel grants for (international) conferences and campaigns. Advocating for gender equity initiatives within German HPC communities, identifying challenges faced by women and underrepresented groups in HPC across Germany, gathering the relevant insights, perspectives and feedback.
Travel Grants | SC'26
The NHR|WHPC Chapter offers up to five SC'26 Travel Grants of €3,000 each to early-career female researchers and researchers from underrepresented groups.

The NHR|WHPC Chapter SC’26 Travel Grants cover the following costs:
- Conference registration fee.
- Airfare
- Accommodation
- Round-trip transportation between home, the event venue, and on-site accommodation.
- Visa application costs.
Applicants must be currently affiliated with a German university and meet one of the following criteria:
- Be a student pursuing a degree in an HPC-related field; or
- Be in the early stages of an HPC career — typically within five years of graduation or following a career transition into HPC.
No SC’26 contribution submission or acceptance is required to apply!

Travel grant award announcement: Sep 1, 2026.
Participation report deadline: Nov 27, 2026.
- All travel expenses must comply with the German Federal Travel Expenses Act (Bundesreisekostengesetz).
- Travel expenses will be reimbursed only after participation in the conference. Visa costs will not be reimbursed in the event of non-attendance.
- A participation report must be submitted to the NHR Association before reimbursement can be processed.
- Travel expense reimbursements are processed through the travel expense management platform Circula.
