Overview

NHR Computational Life Science-Support

Six NHR centers cooperate in the NHR Computational Life Science-support, which is coordinated by NHR@TUD and NHR@ZIB.

Life Science support covers a wide range of research areas, including basic research, medicinal analysis using secure computing and AI, and simulation approaches. Support for Life Sciences focuses on two main areas: simulation and data-intensive research.

Through collaboration among the centers within the NHR alliance, users benefit from a broad pool of expertise, more than any single center can provide.

The participating centers are: NHR@TUD, NHR@ZIB, NHR@Göttingen, NHR@SW, NHR@FAU and NHR4CES@RWTH.

Simulation-based applications

Coordinated by NHR@ZIB

This subgroup provides support for scientific simulation problems that are solved in areas such as biophysics, biochemistry, molecular dynamics, and structural biology, which require high computational performance. The limitations of hardware and software with respect to speed, capacity, and availability necessitate efficient resource usage.

The aim of the support is to enable HPC workloads and AI applications on NHR systems. The support team members have a strong life science research background as well as HPC experience.

Offers:

  • Regular contact with users and research groups to identify needs
  • Technical and scientific consulting for user projects, including software selection, workflow optimization, and efficient usage of NHR systems
  • Direct user engagement to increase visibility and accessibility of NHR support
  • Roadshows events to strengthen communication.
