NHR Conference '24
We bring together high performance computing users and providers of our NHR centers. You have the opportunity to present your projects in a poster session or contributed talk and to exchange ideas with the consulting and operational teams of the NHR centers.
The 2nd NHR Conference is taking place in Darmstadt in collaboration with NHR4CES@TUDa (Technische Universität Darmstadt).
Keynote Speakers
- Andrea Beck, University of Stuttgart
- Richard G. Hennig, University of Florida
- Dennis Kochmann, ETH Zürich
Here you can find the 'Book of Abstracts', which contains the final program of the conference, the abstracts of all contributions, and information on the conference venue.

> Computational Engineering
In the area of Computational Engineering, we especially welcome contributions from the field of computational mechanics, with references to HPC and its impact on models and methods. We further invite talks on aspects of uncertainty quantification, and optimization or inverse problems in general.
> Materials Science
Within the Materials Science Sessions, we aim to explore the state-of-the-art computational frameworks and automated workflows to identify and design novel materials with optimal physical, chemical or mechanical properties, for example by using multiscale approaches, machine learning or high-throughput techniques.
> Simulation & Artificial Intelligence
Simulation & AI addresses the development and application of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for engineering and sciences. This includes aspects such as surrogating or complementing simulation or optimization models through AI and ML, generative design, data generation, as well as the combination of physics-based and data-driven modeling and simulation through including prior knowledge into ML (“physics-informed ML”).
With top-class keynote speakers and further lectures on this year’s scientific topics, the conference will provide the basis for a scientific exchange beyond disciplinary boundaries. By presenting your research in a talk or poster, you are invited to initiate discussions with other scientists.
The NHR is made for science and so you are asked to provide impetus to make NHR meet your needs. Consulting, and operator staff will participate in the program, and there will be lots of opportunities for one-on-one meetings as well as panel discussions.

Darmstadtium
The darmstadtium congress center is located in the heart of the art nouveau and science city of Darmstadt, directly on the city center campus of the Technical University and opposite Darmstadt Castle. Opened in 2007, the congress center combines modern architecture with historical relics such as the old city wall, which has been integrated into the building. The building takes its name from the chemical element “Darmstadtium”, which was discovered in 1994 at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt.
